Archaeologists from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences claim to have excavated ancient zoroastrian tombs on the Pamir Plateau west of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The find It is located in Tajik Taxkorgan, Xinjiang Autonomous County, neighboring region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, at more than 3,000 meters of altitude.
According to carbon dating, the tombs were built 2,500 years ago in the spring and autumn period. They were placed on a platform, with rows of black and white stones following the rays of the sun. "Stripes of stones that resemble the rays of the sun symbolize light and darkness, good and bad. They are basic elements in the theory of Zoroaster and its doctrine”Says Wu Xinhua, director of the archaeological team.
Also found in the tomb is a fire container, about 30 cm in diameter, with burnt pebbles inside. It could be the oldest piece of pottery of this type ever found.
Others features of the zoroastrian tombs they include its situation in open and high lands with water in front, and with mountains to the rear. Furthermore, the remains appear to have been unearthed and reburied, as indicated by Zoroastrian custom.
They have also been found assorted objects such as a bamboo comb, silk clothing, woolen fabrics, and agate beads from Mesopotamia. Some articles are native to the south and east of China, but others are re Persia (present day Iran) or Central Asia, which indicates that Zoroastrianism can arise in this crossroads of cultures in the middle of the Pamir Plateau. "If true, it would be the most important thing in the discovery"Says Wu.
Zoroastrianism It is one of the oldest religions in the world that is based on the dualism between good and evil, and in the worship of fire in life after death, which would explain the pottery with burned stones found in tombs.
I am currently studying Journalism and Audiovisual Communication at the Rey Juan Carlos University, which has made me inclined towards the international section, including the study of languages. For this reason, I do not rule out dedicating myself to teaching. I also like to practice physical exercise and spend a pleasant time chatting with my acquaintances and with new people. Lastly, I enjoy traveling to know the authentic culture of each region of the world, although I admit that before I need to find out as much as possible about the place I'm going to visit, to fully enjoy the experience.
